Description

The Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling (RQF) provides learners with the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and understanding to enable them to apply safe manual handling principles.

This qualification is intended for learners wanting to undertake training or to further develop their knowledge and/or skills in this subject area. The objectives of the qualification include:

  • Preparing learners to progress to a qualification in the same subject area but at a higher level or requiring more specific knowledge, skills and understanding,
  • Preparing learners to progress to a qualification in another subject area,
  • Giving learners personal growth and engagement in learning.

This course will be run at your venue on a date and time specified by you.  We will bring all equipment with us – you supply the training area.

Assessment

This award is assessed in a number of ways:

The tutor will complete a range of assessment activities during the course. These may include question and answers, multiple choice examination, role play exercise, workbook, scenario, group activity.

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements however learners should have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.  This qualification is approved for delivery to learners of all ages from 14 -16 upwards.

Unit No: 1

Manual handling safety at work

This unit is designed to give you all the underpinning knowledge required for any occupation which involves lifting and handling. The individual learning outcomes are as follows:

Outcome one:
Understand the reasons for safe manual handling

To achieve this outcome, you will be able to

  • outline the potential injuries from poor manual handling
  • outline employers and employees duties
  • outline the consequences of non-compliance with safety requirements.

Outcome two:
Understand how manual handling risk assessments contribute to improving health and safety

To achieve this outcome, you will be able to

  • define the terms hazard and risk in relation to handling
  • carry out a manual handling assessment
  • describe the risk control hierarchy

Outcome three:
Understand the principles, types of equipment and testing requirements associated with manual handling safety.

To achieve this outcome, you will be able to;

  • describe safe movement principles
  • outline types of equipment that can be used for safe handling
  • outline the requirements for maintaining lifting and handling equipment

Outcome four:

Be able to apply safe manual handling principles

To achieve this outcome, you will be able to

  • Demonstrate safe manual handling principles
