The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (RQF) is the higher level award in the adult education sector. This online course can be completed at your own pace and will lead to a nationally recognised and regulated qualification. This award was previously known as DTLLS.
The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (RQF) qualification is ideal for anybody who delivers training in the workplace or wishes to teach in the further Education & Skills Sector and forms a foundation for those with little or no previous experience of teaching or training. This award is also required for anybody teaching a range of regulated qualifications and awards provided by awarding organisations. Previously this qualification was known as DTLLS.
Our qualification offers a range of units which meet students needs in a broad range of teaching areas:
Unit 1: Developing teaching, learning and assessment in education and training
Unit 2: Teaching, learning and assessment in education and training
Unit 3: Theories, principles and models in education & training
Unit 4: Wider professional practice and development in education and training
Unit 5: Developing, using and organising resources in a specialist area
Unit 6: Inclusive practice
Unit 7: Teaching in a specialist area
Enrolments are now being invited from international students in addition to those based in the UK.
The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (RQF) is awarded through our awarding partner – Training Qualifications UK.
This qualification is assessed in a number of ways to help you achieve:
- 8 observations of you teaching groups (minimum 5 students). These observations are normally completed by another teaching acting as an expert witness.
- 100 hours of classroom teaching experience. A teaching hours log will be required.
- Assignments for each of the seven units in this qualification. The assignments range from 1000 – 2000 words and some also have product evidence requirements such as lesson plans, teaching resources and other associated paperwork.
- Personal statements and a log of your continued personal development.
To enrol on this qualification you should be at least 19 years of age and have a good standard of written and spoken english.

|Distance learning course||
This is a distance learning course. You will be provided with access to an online portal which contains reading material and a reading list.
You will be able to upload your completed assignments and tutor feedback will also be available in this portal.
We expect you to spend up to 1200 hours completing this qualification. These hours can be paced to suit your lifestyle – typically people on this qualification will complete in 8-12 months, however some will complete sooner.
Throughout this award you will have a designated tutor who will provide support should you need it. This could be by telephone, email or online chat.
