Description

The Level 4 Certificate for Higher Level Teaching Assistants (RQF) is regulated by Ofqual.  The qualification was developed in association with NCC Resources.


 

This qualification is aimed at learners employed in a teaching assistant role who wish to progress to Higher Level Teaching Assistant status.

 

The purpose is to develop learners’ knowledge, understanding and skills to enable them to address the challenges that they meet in their workplace. They will also develop an understanding of the knowledge required to support individuals and small groups and to support individuals with a range of additional needs.


This qualification is awarded through our awarding partner – Training Qualifications UK.

 


Entry Requirements

It is recommended that learners have a minimum of level two in literacy and numeracy or equivalent and be working/volunteering in a school as a teaching assistant.

We recommend that learners enrolling on this qualification work or volunteer for at least 12 hours per week. 

The qualification is suitable for learners of 16 years of age and above.

 


This qualification is made up from the following units:

Unit One: Understand the Higher-Level Teaching Assistant Role
Unit Two: Child Development and Welfare
Unit Three: Awareness of Special Educational Needs
Unit Four: Promoting Positive Behaviour in Children and Young People
Unit Five: Providing Support for Individual Learners and Small Groups
Unit Six: Developing Skills to Promote Positive Working Relationships
Unit Seven: Curriculum Planning, Delivery and Assessment


Course Assessment

This course is assessed in a number of ways: 

  • Complete six written assessments
  • Complete a Personal Statement
  • Complete a Learner Report
  • Be Observed four times.

You will be provided tutor support for up to 12 months on this qualification.  You will be assigned to a named  tutor throughout and have contact details including email address and telephone number for your tutor.

Additional information

Distance Learning

This is a distance learning course. You will not be required to attend a training centre to complete this qualification.

Tutor Support

You will be provided with a named tutor who will be available by telephone, email or online chat to assist you when required. Your tutor will mark your assessments and provide feedback within 72 hours.

Course duration

The course has a 12 month expiry and you must complete within this time. Most learners will complete this qualification in 5-6 months although it can be completed quicker.
